Breakfast. Morning sightseeing tour of Skopje to include the Kale Fortress, Church of the Holy Savior with its iconostasis and fine example of traditional walnut woodcarving, the Old Bazaar, from Ottoman dating from the 12th cen. and the Stone Bridge. Our tour will continue with a drive to drive to the slopes of the Vodno Mountain where we visit the Monastery of St. Panteleimon with its 12th-century iconostasis and frescoes ranking among the highest achievements of Byzantine art. Visit
Kamnik winery for wine tasting and lunch. You will taste the local wines and cuisine with a beautiful view of the city of Skopje. Return to Skopje. Leisure time to explore the city.
Breakfast. Departure to Stobi to visit the Greco Roman archeological site. The site dates from 7rd Cen. BC. Stobi is the largest and most important archeological site in Macedonia. During our tour you will visit the Roman Forum, a 2nd cen. Roman Theatre, Basilicas, and a Baptistry from Christian Times. You will see magnificent mosaics from several centuries. A 3rd cen. Synagogue is also located on the site. Continue on to the city of Bitola where we will start our city tour. Visit the Shirok Sokak, a pedestrian street lined with neoclassical buildings. View St. Dimitri Church, the Clock Tower, Yeni Mosque which is known for its exquisite decorative ornaments and stalactites, and the Old Ottoman Bazaar. During Ottoman Times Bitola was known as the “City of Consulates.” Boasting consulates from 12 countries. Kemal Ataturk the Father of Modern Turkey was educated at the Military Academy in Bitola. Lunch on your own in Bitola. Continue to the town of Orhid, on the most beautiful lake in Macedonia.
Breakfast. Today we will experience the lakeside resort of Ohrid, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The famous Ohrid Literary School was founded by St. Clement and St. Naum as well as the first Slavic University in Slavic Europe. Our sight-seeing tour begins with visits to the 11th century St. Sophia Church with magnificent Byzantine frescos. The church architecture and frescos from the Middle Ages is one of the most important monuments of Macedonia. We will visit St. Clement Church renowned for its icon of the Annunciation. Our afternoon visit will be to St. Naum Monastery, built on the shores of Lake Ohrid in 900 A.D. The monastery is dedicated to the Slavic missionary and educator St. Naum of Ohrid. The icons from the early 18th cen. are considered some of best religious painting achievements in the Balkans. Enjoy a boat cruise, weather permitting on magnificent Lake Ohrid.
Breakfast. Morning departure for Albania. During our journey we will stop at Elbasan for our lunch break. Elbasan is small authentic Albanian town with ruins of a castle and and an impressive clock tower in the center of the city. En-route stop at the Cobo Winery. After the tour of the grounds, you are invited to experience the wine while enjoying a variety of homemade Albanian cheeses and locally-grown olives. Our journey continues to the picturesque city of Berat, known for its Castle and White Ottoman Houses. The city is referred to as the “Museum City”. Our walking tour begins with begin with a sightseeing tour of Berat. View the Berat Castle from the lower city. And the Lead Mosque with its beautiful turquoise dome. We will walk through the beautiful Mangalem Quarter known as the “City of 1000 Windows” built in a unique Ottoman wooden and stone architectural style. Time to explore Berat before returning to your hotel in Berat.
Breakfast. After breakfast a visit to the important archeological site of Apollonia. Apollonia was founded in the 6th cen. BC by the Greeks was dedicated to the God Apollo, later became a prosperous Roman city and survived through the Middle Ages. The museum of Apolonia is situated on the site of a 13th-century monastery and Byzantine church from the 14th century. You will experience well preserved ruins and magnificent mosaics. Afternoon departure to Tirana. This evening you will enjoy dinner in our hotel in Tirana.
Breakfast. After breakfast enjoy a walking tour of Tirana. Morning sightseeing of the highlights of Tirana. Tour will begin at Skanderbeg Square, named for Skanderbeg, the Albanian national hero; his statue dominates the center of the Square. Next, we will visit Et'hem Bey Mosque, a symbol of the re-birth of religious freedom in Albania. Walking through the Square we will see the Palace of Culture, the Pyramid, the 18th century Tabak Ottoman Stone Bridge. Visit the National History Museum. Our tour will continue to Mother Teresa Square and to the District of Blloku where many restaurants, bars and cafes are located. Remainder of the day and evening is at leisure to explore Tirana.
Breakfast. This morning we will depart for the coastal city of Durres former ancient city founded by the Greeks. Today it is a thriving resort destination on the Adriatic Sea. A visit is planned to the 2nd cen. AD Roman Amphitheatre of the Emperor Hadrian with outstanding wall mosaics and the Archeological Museum. Free time is planned to enjoy this beautiful coastal city. Mid-afternoon visit to the Duka Winery to taste the coastal varieties of Albanian wines. Return to Tirana.
Breakfast. Transfer on your own to the Tirana Airport TIA for your return flight to Europe.

I am pleased to offer the new destinations of Macedonia and Albania. Macedonia is one of the areas that has been settled the longest in Europe. There is evidence that civilization flourished as early as 7,000 years ago. You will visit fascinating archeological, historical sites, quaint villages, magnificent monastery’s, Ottoman occupied cities and villages and the capital city of Skopje. Visit Lake Ohrid and the town have been named a UNESCO World Heritage sites. While visiting Ohrid you will view churches, monasteries and Ottoman architecture. Macedonia is known for its wine production throughout the centuries. Visits to wineries are planned during our journey. We will visit Berat, a city known for its White Ottoman Houses, sometimes called the “City of 1000 Windows”. Our journey will continue to Albanian capital of Tirana. Our final day will be a visit to Albania’s second largest city Durres on the Adriatic Coast where you will visit the Amphitheater 2nd cen. AD with a medieval chapel built in the 4th cen. AD with superb mosaics.
